Free Minds Book Club
In collaboration with The Atlantic and Allstate to create a small book based on the Free Minds Book Club. My contribution was the visual side of the story which included five portraits of some of the program members, program workers, and prisoners. The piece traces the development of a book club for juvenile prisoners. The focus of the piece is an organization called Free Minds, which, in addition to the book exchange, offers juvenile prisoners literacy/writing classes, and re-entry training. The article also takes a look at the factors that contribute to juvenile crime, and the negative effects of prison on the juvenile mind.
